my EAD is still pending. but no lud on EAD cases. just a soft LUD on I-140 on 7/13. Very wired !!

Okay guys.. now the journey is over for me. I finally got my physical cards in mail. for some reason I never got CPO email/text. All I got decision and post decision emails. Since it had been couple of weeks since decision I was getting uneasy (because of no CPO).. but I got physical cards in mail today !

I applied for EAD and AP renewal on June 30. I received AP approval on July 18th and got EAD approved on August 15th.

I just called national customer service center for my 485 receipts and the lady told that nebraska filers should still wait for 30 more days before they call for receipt updates...she said she was answering the same question since this morning and mentioned that it could still take atleast 30 days for nebraska center to register the applications...
when I asked her if she knew whether my case has been transferred to TSC already (since my 140 got approved from TSC), she said she wouldn't know that answer...her bottom line was to wait...
what a mess!!!!!

we get excited before and few days after the bulletin ...the fact is that iron is no longer hot ..no matter what we do now -- it is too late. democrats focussed on healthcare instead of immigration and are fighting a losing battle ..they will be too tired to do anything after that. for those in EB3 and those who are in EB2 (but not yet filed 485) ...all they can do is have a strong plan B ..make as much money as you can while the sun shines ..the odds of getting a GC is worse that winning a lottery (so might as well buy few tickets now and then !!).
the only slight hope is that since amnesty is as good as dead ..they may pass some sort of recapture (maybe to give additional boost to housing).

I am not planning to open a company for this. If possible, I would rather work as an independent contractor on 1099.
Please read IRS links I posted above re independent contractor vs. worker. Since you'll be filing your taxes as an independent contractor/sole proprietor on 1099, you'll be considered "self-employed." AC21 allows self-employment. You may not be formally opening a company, but you'll be self-employed.
Now, after reading the last few posts, it looks like there are three things I need to worry about in case of a RFE -
1. Job should be bona fide (without going into the definition of the word).
My project is going to be with a large Bank through a big, wellknown consulting/outsourcing company. That should take care of the 'bonafide' part.
All self-employment is legitimate--so no need to worry. Another option is o get the EVL from the staffing company in case of RFE. Your subcontract with the bank is immaterial.
2. Should have similar/same job duties/responsibilities.
I am still waiting for the contract, however I can have my job duties/responsibilities listed out in my contract with the company. I am sure I can get a letter from the client too if it comes to that.
Your self-employment under AC21 has to be same or similar job. If the contracting co can give you an EVL (in case of an RFE), good enough. If not, you can create one for your self-employed "Sole Proprietorship." I wouldn't bother the staffing company*now* for an EVL.
3. Job should be permanent - This is something I may not be able to prove. Since the project is short term, I am sure my contract will mention that. I am trying to convince the company to at least include "contract-to-hire" in the language of the contract. Since this project has potential of becoming long term, company is not averse to this idea.
Will having 'contract-to-hire' in the contract take care of this question (if a RFE comes).

Here is my story...When I came here 12 years back, for initial 3 years I did not applied for GC. Then I started my GC with a employer, company lawyer kept on saying that he filed my GC for one & half year but he did not...One fine morning, I realized that my lawyer was seating on my papers as per instructions from HR..lost around 2 years there. After talking to HR, lawyer filed LC and LC was approved thereafter two & half years..Unfortunatley, at the time of filing I-140, company declared "Bankruptcy" and once agian I was on the road. Joined new employer. New employer said I have to complete one year to file GC. After one year filed LC, my I-140 approved and last FOUR years on EAD. This roller coster is because of...I am from "Retrogressed" conuthry and PD is getting retrogressing now & then...
Still feels that GC is just a part of journey of my life...

I had read on the other forums about people receiving phone-calls from USCIS with enquiries about the employer, client, wages etc. They introduce themselves as USCIS personnel and take sensitive information from people. Could they be imposters from the Anti-Immi Side. I do urge caution not to give any Info on the phone. If USCIS wanted info from the H1B holder, they would have done it through regular mail.

During July 07, i know some of the couples did apply twice once a primary and other as dependent on the other. In July 07, wife and i did not take that approach and had separate applications. In August 08, i applied for my second 485 as her dependent since i would have to wait a decade to get gc through my application. For now, my other application shows under review. Once i get GC in my hands, then i will ask my compnay lawyer if there is a need for withdrawing my other application.

Argentines are not that much different from persons from Mexico as to their ethnicity and racial composition. Secondly the views of a few angry callers should not get a country labelled for a social ill just as the minute men and some supremacist groups do not make the US predominantly racist. We're loosing the focus here, this is not about this country or that country its about the immigrant community and the challenges we collectively face.

I am neither a God to show you a way nor your friend to be next to you and help you hold your spirit high. All I got is a heart to show and give you an unconditional love and support.
I still cannot breathe after reading this. I juste prayed to God for you. Don't loose your hope. I am sure you are trying or tried all types of cures. I have deep faith in Pranayam/Yoga. I am not sure if you have heard about SWAMI RAMDEV JI. He teaches pranayam and here's link to his forum http://forums.curesearch.org/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=631 . Try to meet him if possible. I Remember US companies directly recruiting from India during 1997-99 .This was a very costly affair for the companies. They used to take phone interviews, and then sponsor the H1B for the employee with very high Compensation, pay the tickets for employee and family( usually first class) , give hotel/furnished apartments for 1-2 months, Rental cars etc. This was done when there was a genuine need for the company to hire H1B's as they could not find enough qualified people in US. By 2000 the equation changed and small H1b companies started appearing like mushrooms in most of the big cities who asked for H1B filing fees. Companies were also gaining from this as they have no legal hassle of H1b and the rates were competitive.
I understand taking money from candidates to file H1 is non-sense. I haven't come across any company that does that when I applied for H1. I contacted couple of H1B sponsors. None of them asked for money. I was really happy the way I was treated by my sponsoring company.
However I dispute your point "some companies file petitions when there isn't an immediate job offer".
There is nothing wrong with this. That is the way consulting works in USA. It is a legitimate business model.

It seems like all the LUDs on approved I140 from Texas for July filers is pointing towards their I485 being sent to Texas too. Hence, this unimaginable prolonged delay. Can we do anything about it except sulk?
